Pouty Pants

Lincoln is teething again and this time it is intense. He hasn’t been himself since Tuesday and we knew it had to be another bout of teething. All the classic signs were there: drool, slight fever, mouth rubbing, finger chewing and the infamous teething poop. Then last night, after deciding to apply a bit of baby orajel to help the pain, I felt his first molar in the back of his mouth.

Although he has clearly been in pain, we are actually impressed by how well he is handling it. He hasn’t really cried (it’s been more of a moaning) and he is easily consoled. Basically, he has decided to sleep his way through the pain. Last night he went to bed at 6:45 pm. He woke-up a few times throughout the night for a drink and another dose of Tylenol. At 7:00 am this morning he came in to bed with us. I had to get up to get ready for work but Lincoln and Dad went back to sleep. Lincoln slept until 10:00 am. After a quick trip to get Glenn from my office (Glenn decided to stop by for a visit) and a trip to the park with his friends Oli and Cohen, Lincoln went back to bed at 11:30 am and slept until 4:00 pm. He just went back to bed, probably for the night, at 7:00 pm. That is a whole lot of sleep!

We figure he is going through a growth spurt and teething all at once. He is scheduled to get his one-year needles tomorrow but we might pass depending on what the health nurse says. Part of us thinks we should just get all the discomfort over with at the same time but we’ll see how he feels tomorrow.

We can only hope that those pesky teeth pop through soon and we can put this behind us until the next go around…
